Classroom2Go

What is Classroom2Go?

Classroom2Go is an innovative solar-powered vehicle created for the fictional Teachers Without Borders group in FSE 100: Introduction to Engineering during the Fall of 2023. Its goal is safely and effectively educate students in remote communities.

The design features a double-decker bus exterior with a space-themed aesthetic that encourages students’ interest in STEM and makes learning fun. Every component of the prototype was constructed using 3D printing and laser cutting to ensure exact measurements and create the unique curved design.

The bus features two automated features: an auto-stop using an ultrasonic sensor at the front of the vehicle and a night light function using LEDs and a photoresistor on the upper level. Both automated features were implemented using an Arduino Uno board.

The vehicle is powered using two solar panels connected in parallel to prioritize current and maximize the torque output. The gearbox utilizes a 1:27 gear ratio to allow the vehicle to move at a speed of around 0.63 ft/s using the output of a 10800 RPM brushed motor.
